An inspection and audit was conducted at our faculty building on March 3, 2025, by the Dean's Offices of the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. During the audit on March 3, 2025, the security of the building was evaluated due to the presence of two faculties from different disciplines within the building. As a result of the audit, it was determined that the physical area of our faculty building, which covers 26,000 m2, consists of 5 floors, 8 blocks, and 600 physical spaces. Of these, 78 are Research and Development Laboratories, 8 are Student Research Laboratories, 6 are Computer Laboratories, and 54 are classrooms. The presence of 12 building entrances and exits created a security vulnerability.
In this context, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the General Circular on Accommodation and Security Measures in Universities published by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey, the following decisions were made by the two Dean's Offices. Security Measures:
- Closing doors that are not in use,
- Converting building entrance/exit doors that are not controlled by security units but are in use to a card system.
- Controlling student entry through a single center, controlled by security units, via the A/Block student entrance door.
- Installing security cameras in common areas inside and outside the building.
- Preventing the misuse of fire escapes; filing a lawsuit for unlawful occupation (Ecrimisil) against those who misuse fire escapes according to Article 995 of the Turkish Civil Code.
In accordance with the decision taken, all teaching staff, administrative personnel, and students working in our Faculty are responsible for the measures taken.
